Yogyakarta Batik Museum is the first museum in Yogyakarta Batik was founded at the initiative of Hadi Nugroho, owner of the museum. This private museum is located at Jalan Dr. Sutomo, Yogyakarta. The building is managed by husband and wife David and Hadi Nugroho. On May 12, 1977, this new museum was inaugurated by the Regional Office of P & K Special Province of Yogyakarta. The museum is inhabiting an area of 400 m2 and also be a place of residence owners.In 2000, the museum received an award from MURI the work 'Largest Embroidery', batik measuring 90 x 400 cm2. Then in 2001, the museum received an award from MURI as the initiator re-establishment of the first in Indonesia Embroidery Museum.Collections:Now, the museum holds more than 1,200 batik collection consisting of 500 pieces of batik cloth, batik 560, 124 canting (batik tool), and 35 pans and dyes, including the night.The museum collection comprises a variety of batik style of Yogyakarta, Solo, Pekalongan, and other traditional styles in the form of long cloth, gloves, and so forth. Motive is mostly a coastal motif, fringe, bright moon, and the motive esuk-afternoon.Some well-known collections include: Woven Long Soga Java (1950-1960), Kain length Ergan Soga Lama (year not recorded), Gloves, Isen Isen Antique (1880-1890), Isen, Isen Antique Gloves (kelengan) (1880 - 1890) made in the Netherlands Mrs. EV. Zeuylen of Pekalongan, and Long Gloves Java Soga (1920-1930) made by Mrs. Lie Djing Kiem of Yogyakarta. All are in museum collections were obtained from the founding family of Yogyakarta Batik Museum. Is the oldest collection of beauty products in 1840.Meanwhile, hundreds of other collections are the work itself the owner of the museum include embroidered image of Indonesia's first president Soekarno, former President Soeharto, Megawati Sukarnoputri, and Hamengkubuwono IX. There was also a portrait of the hero's face and the Imam Bonjol Diponegoro. There is also embroidered the face of Pope John Paul II and Mother Teresa of India.
